Along with an introduction of the new 10-Giga-byte data plan and an overhaul of the contract discount program, customers of 4G smart phones and tablet computers can also enjoy WiBro 4G 10-Giga-byte data plan without paying an additional charge. Now you can experience KT’s advanced 4G service such as the WiBro 4G nationwide network and a variety of devices and data plans available at reasonable prices.

3.     FAQs on the new WiBro 4G data plan

Q1. What is the promotional data plan?

A1. It is an entire range of WiBro base plans that can be contracted before or maintained until July 31st, 2011. The plan includes 1G, 30G, 50G, and Unlimited plan, as well as the plans currently out of service such as Declaration of Liberation, Declaration of Practicality, Basic and Free plan.

Q2. Are subscribers of the promotional plan switched to the latest plan?

A2. No. Subscribers of the existing plans that can be contracted before or maintained until July 31st can stick with the plans until the contract expires without having to switch to the new plan.

Q3. Do all promotional plans stop receiving new subscribers beginning from August 1st, 2011?

A3. No. All of the promotional plans bundled with smart phones, which include WiBro 30G 5,000 won/10,000 won, Seoul University Plan, W-Navigation i-Navi and Samsung Notebook Promotion plan, are still open to new subscription until December 31st, 2011.

Q4. Can I switch to one of the promotional plans?

A4. No. Beginning from August 2nd, 2011, existing subscribers can only switch to standard plans. Once a promotional plan is switched to one of the new standard plans, it cannot be switched back again.

Q5. Can I change my service plan as often as I could before during a month?

A5. Yes. You can change your service plan once a month as before, even after the new standard plan becomes effective.

Q6. How much from my previous service plan is deducted when switching my plan?

A6. Same as before, 10 % will be deducted from your previous service plan.

Q7. When my subscription is transferred to the third party, can he/she keep the promotional plan?

A7. No. Beginning from August 2nd, 2011, existing subscribers of the promotional plans can transfer its subscription to the third party only after the plan is switched to one of the new standard service plans.

Q8. The rate past the 1Giga-byte monthly limit is 25 won / Mega-byte in the case of promotional service plan, whereas it is 10 won / Mega-byte for the new standard service plan. Won’t the rate past the 1G monthly limit change in the case of promotional service plan?

A8. The rate past the monthly limit is changed to 10 won / Mega-byte as is with the new standard service plan.

Q9. Can a subscriber of the promotional service plan enjoy discounted price when switching to one of the new service plans?

A9. Yes. However, the discount is valid only when you choose a two-year contract, and the contract becomes effective beginning from the date when the plan was switched.

Q10. When I switch to a new service plan, does the discounted amount change as well?

A10. Yes. If a subscriber of the 10G service plan switches to a 30G service plan, the discounted amount changes from 8,000 won to 15,000 won as well.

Q11. Why was the unlimited service plan abolished?

A11. Our survey on the WiBro 4G subscribers shows that most of the customers can get by with less than 50 Giga-bytes of data a month, whereas only a very small number of subscribers incurred 600 to 700 Giga-bytes of data traffic a month, prompting us to abolish the previous WiBro 4G Unlimited Data Plan to ensure quality of service for the majority of our customers.

Q12. What is the contract discount for the new service plan?

A12. The contract discount for the new service plan is the discount of the monthly bill offered for the customers who subscribed for a two-year WiBro 4G service plan.

Q13. Is the contract discount valid only when I purchase a device at KT sales outlet?

A13. No. The contract discount is still valid when you subscribe for a two-year contract after buying an unlocked phone or subscribe for UICC.

Q14. Is the contract discount not valid after the contract expires?

A14. Even after the contract expires, you can still enjoy the discount without having to pay a cancelation charge. The cancelation fee is indeed charged if you unsubscribe before the contract expires. However, after an expiration date, no fee is charged.

Q15. Can I subscribe for the 1G service plan without a contract?

A15. Yes. The monthly bill for the 1G service plan is 10,000 won, as is for the promotional plan. The 1G service plan is the only plan you can subscribe for without a contract.

Q16. Is the contract discount still valid when I subscribe for the new 10G, 30G and 50 G service plan without a contract?

A16. No. Since the contract discount is offered only when you subscribe for the service with a contract, the discount is not offered when you subscribe without a contract.

Q17. Can I switch my service plan from one with a contract to another without a contract, or vice versa?

A17. Yes, you can. However, if you switch from a plan with a contract to another without a contract, a cancelation fee will be charged and the discounted amount will be charged again by 10 %.

Q18. How many times can I change my service contract?

A18. You can change it once a month, as is with the service plan.

Q19. Does the new service plan have only a service contract?

A19. No. There are two types of contracts: the service contract where a contract discount is applicable and the device contract which is applied when you purchase a new device. In other words, both the service contract and device contract can exist for a single service ID.

Q20. If a separate contract for the service and device is set up, can the duration of the two contracts be different as well?

A20. Yes. The contract for the service is up to two years, whereas the contract for the device varies from 12 to 36 months pending the company policy.

Q21. Is the cancelation fee charged for the service and device each?

A21. Yes. The cancelation fee is charged for the service and device respectively if the two contracts were separately purchased.

Q22. Can you tell me the formula to calculate my estimated cancelation fee?

A22. {∑ (Monthly discount)} * {(Contract duration (days)-Discounted days / Contract duration (days)}

Q23. If a subscriber of the promotional service plan switch to one of the new standard service plans, is the remaining contract transferred to the new contract?

A23. No. As the promotional plan has no contract discount for the service in the first place, there is no contract to be transferred either.

Q24. The promotional service plan offers a price discount for the 50G or unlimited data plan bundled with a laptop and etc. in the form of subsidies paid as the monthly device installment, which are 15,000 won for the 50G plan and 20,000 won for the unlimited plan. Until when will this discount remain valid?

A24. There is an upper limit to the subsidies paid as the monthly device installment, which expires when they exceed the upper limit. When the discount benefit expires, the monthly payment increases to 27,000 won in case of 50G data plan, and 40,000 won in case of the unlimited plan. The discount is provided up to three years, with its applicable number of month variable pending the policy at the time of the subscription.

Q25. If a subscriber who is currently enjoying subsidies paid as the monthly device installment switches to one of the new service plans, is the contract transferred as well?

A25. No. When the service plan tagged with subsidies paid as the monthly device installment is switched to a new service plan, the cancelation fee will be charged. It is because the switch to a new service plan also terminates the contract, and the contract is not transferred either.

Q26. Will the 10 % of the monthly bill be charged against the subscriber if the contract is canceled within 14 days?

A26. Yes. Beginning from August 1st, 2011, the promotion that exempts the bill payment within 14 days after a subscription will be terminated. The subscribers will be charged 10% of the monthly bill if he/she cancels the subscription within 14 days.

Q27. Can I insure my device when I subscribe for one of the new service plans?

A27. Yes. The device insurance consists of the USB type and others, and the insurance premium is charged on the new service plan. For instance, if you want a 10 G service plan together with USB type device insurance, you may opt for the WiBro 10G plus device insurance (USB type) service plan.

Q28. Is the Wi-Fi service offered for free?

A28. Yes. All the service plans including 1G, 10G, 30G and 50G plan come with a free Wi-Fi service.

Q29. Is the prepaid service changed to one of the new service plan?

A29. No. The prepaid service remains the same as before (3,000 won for the flat rate, 1,000 won rate per hour), as its promotional plan will be reconfigured as part of the new service plans.

Q30. Is the 50 Giga-byte storage of the UCloud service offered for free as well when I subscribe for the new service plan?

A30. The UCould is not provided for free when you subscribe separately for the WiBro 4G data plan. The same is true even after the new standard service plan is implemented. However, it may change in the future.
